The Brief
The client loved the idea of a social kitchen with space to entertain, while cooking if possible. The last kitchen was stuffy and crampt, first order of business was to remove a wall, open up what was two rooms and include bar stools for a comfortable social space.
The challenge in this kitchen is a very common one, achieving the perfect balance between function and form, removing the wall was a key point, although, this kitchen has many integrated appliances which eat into the available storage. We made sure that any small spaces were used, hiding spice racks in secret panels for the perfect prep areas.
Designer's Tips
To help create the prep zone for this kitchen, we used push latches to create hidden spaces behind end panels. What looked liked modern pilasters, were actually treaser troves of spice/tin/packet storage. In other words, make the most of space, even when the space isn't obvious!
