The Brief

The clients wished to improve the layout of their existing kitchen and incorporate more storage. The designer recommended removing a wall, which would open up the space to create a versatile and multi-functional kitchen. The classically-proportioned lines of the Shaker Milbourne range, with its subtle-textured finish, suits the architecture of the room and contrasts beautifully with the dark granite. The tambour storage is easily accessible and is perfect for storing the toaster and coffee machine, which can be discreetly hidden away when not in use.

Designer's Tips

The island is very much the centrepiece of the design and features a shaped piece of walnut, set at a different height to the granite. This creates a handy place for dining and socialising.  The island is the perfect place to house both hidden and open  storage, from wide pan drawers through to wicker baskets, which add country charm as well as being practical for storing fresh food. The new layout has proved to be very popular, particularly the island unit which is a great success and is enjoyed by all the family.
