Having lived with the kitchen that was installed when they bought their propertyfrom new, the clients had finally had enough of not only its inadequate design but also the lack of social and dining area. The brief included more usable worktops, enhanced storage and eye-level built-in appliances as well as improving the social element of the space. The new Milbourne painted range not only suited their taste but their budget too and in the classic monochrome scheme has both the look and feel of a hand-painted design.
The clients were keen to have a much lighter ambience so the designer recommended breaking into the pitched roof and introducing a bank of Velux’s which instantly makes the room feel airy and bright. Another design tip, which the clients embraced, was that of removing the existing radiator and replacing it with a plinth heater, a great idea which freed up an otherwise difficult-to-use wall. There’s now ample usable worktop space with the stunning grey-toned granite complementing the furniture beautifully.
