The clients, a couple with a young family, embarked on an incredible project, adapting a century-old blacksmith’s forge in Co Antrim. The ambitious project was certainly worth it, resulting in a stunning renovation that Grand Designs were eager to film for their show. The kitchen, a contemporary handleless Tomba design, successfully blends the old with the new, the crisp white cabinetry creating a stunning juxtaposition between the original stone walls and pale timber beams. The project also featured in Grand Designs' magazine and was chosen to grace the front cover.
The space is light and open so the Tomba range is perfectly at home and the linear design highlights the statement curved timber, which beautifully frames the kitchen. The island is multi-functional, being a practical prep area as well as an informal place to have a coffee or chat. The open-plan design perfectly suits the demands of a growing family, with the dining and living areas flowing naturally from the kitchen with the consistent flooring and décor creating a sense of connectivity.
