The original small and very dark kitchen was extended and is now twice the size. Although much bigger, the new room is long and narrow so the high gloss Porter White cabinetry adds the illusion of space and depth. There’s a considered mix of cabinetry heights and depths to prevent the room feeling like a corridor and this is enhanced with the carefully chosen blend of timber and stone worktops
When designing a long narrow kitchen, an illusion of space is created by using lower or floating units so that the eye picks up the design interest and makes the room appear wider. In this kitchen there is limited natural light so careful consideration was given to include both task and decorative lighting.
