Kitchen style used

The Brief

The client was building an extension to create more space in their home, which included a large, open-plan kitchen/living area and utility room. The previous kitchen was large, but it wasn’t to the client’s taste, who wanted a modern, bright kitchen with doors in a light colour. There was an awkward space under the client’s stairs which we made into handy, shelved larders for storing their spices, waste bin unit and pans.

Designer's Tips

The client liked the idea of matt doors and they liked our Porter display which we had in the showroom.  To increase the sense of space in the kitchen, we suggested they went for matt white doors. The liked the idea of coming around the corner with the units and having an open shelved wall unit to display their cookery books. Under unit strip lighting and new spot lights in the ceiling brightened the space up. The client also liked the idea of having horizontal handles and lots of hidden storage, such as a tall, pull out larder on either side of the coffee machine. They wanted to include as many drawers as possible for easy to access storage. The new extension and kitchen/utility room has completely transformed the client’s house – they now have much more space and storage than before and lots of natural light due to the new, full height glass doors which look on to the garden.
