The clients were a young family who wanted to update their existing kitchen with a modern style. They wanted LeMans corner units for easy access, their oven in a tall unit (it was currently built under) and a tall, integrated fridge/freezer as they only had a build under fridge and no tall storage, which wasn’t ideal for a family of four.
We changed their hob from gas to induction, which was safer for the young children. Keeping the hob on the peninsula meant that Mum could keep an eye on the kids in the living area while she was cooking.
The sink in the existing kitchen was against the back wall so we moved it to the window so that if the children were playing outside and Mum was doing the dishes, she could keep an eye on them there as well! This freed up the back wall for a tall, oven housing and a tall, integrated fridge/freezer. A Le Mans and carousel corner unit gave the clients much more accessible storage in the corners. A dropped ceiling over the peninsula prevented the clients from banging their head on their hood – they hated this about the existing kitchen and said the hood used to get really dirty. We included spot lights in the dropped ceiling to make it a feature. The sink run was extended and the peninsula moved closer to the French doors, so that we could fit in more storage as well.
