The clients, a retired couple, often have friends and family over for dinner and they wanted to have a sociable focus to their new kitchen. It was also essential to have plenty of worktop area for food preparation and cooking. The designer created an ergonomic U-shape layout, which features a handy peninsula with stools, and this has answered the clients’ brief perfectly. The colour scheme is essentially light and fresh with the Porter Beige cabinetry reflecting the light to enhance the sense of space.
The clients wanted to maximise storage but as the kitchen regularly doubles up as an entertaining space they wanted everything to be discreetly hidden away to keep the lines clean and uncluttered. The designer packed the kitchen with lots of functional storage such as pull-out systems, Le Mans corner solutions and a 3-compartment pull-out bin. An existing freestanding washing machine is also hidden behind a door.
