Home to a busy family, the brief was to create a sociable space that was welcoming and family friendly. As well as wanting their kitchen to be timeless, functionality and safety were also priorities for the clients. The Porter Beige range was chosen for its neutral tone and simple lines, a modern design that would not date. To create the open-plan layout a wall was removed between the original kitchen and dining room, which in turn allowed for easy access to the garden. This is ideal for when their grand children visit as they can keep an eye on them when they are playing outside.
A peninsular creates a subtle divide between the kitchen and dining areas, the hob is positioned here so the cook is facing the dining table and can socialise with the rest of the family. Improved storage was a key element of the new design and deep drawers are particularly useful in the island, plus plenty of cabinets to keep the worktops clutter free from little fingers! In addition, two tall larders flank the fridge-freezer. To inject the ‘wow factor’ the clients opted for the stunning Titanium granite work tops.
