The clients wanted to update their kitchen, which was the original from when the house was first built 15 years previously. The brief was to create a design that had plenty of worktop space for preparation but with a layout that had a strong sociable element for the family. Porter Alabaster cabinetry was chosen for its fresh and modern appeal, teamed with the dramatic Starlight quartz worksurfaces.
Although an average-sized kitchen the designer has created a multi-functional space that scores highly on both ergonomics and visual interest. The peninsular is a popular place for the family to gather, to chat, dine or read the paper. To prevent the room from being hemmed in with standard wall cabinets the designer suggested a mid-height unit for the double oven with a slim unit above. There’s also a considered lighting scheme to keep the ambience light and airy, whatever time of day.
