Set in a new extension to the property, the key words of the clients’ brief were ‘classic contemporary’, themed with a timeless air but with a design that excelled on a functional level. The simple lines of the Mornington range, in a mix of partridge grey and charcoal, was the starting point for the scheme, and teamed with marbled- effect quartz and solid oak worktops the desired look has been beautifully executed. The antiqued mirror-effect, toughened-glass splashback adds a distinctive finishing touch.
RSJs and supporting piers were a challenge to work around but the designer was able to hide both piers, one behind the left-hand side of the mantle and the other in the 300mm larder in between the fridge and ovens. A very smart solution. The space had to be inviting as it’s a room where the clients intend to entertain, but whilst they wanted something ‘wow’ they were keen to ensure it didn’t come across as pretentious or show-off-ish. With the considered mix of materials, they elegant accessorisation including the elegant pendant lights, this is a design to be proud of.
