Kitchen style used
The clients’ previous long and narrow kitchen was not only dated but was failing to make the best use of the space available. Keen to improve the functionality and aesthetics the clients were looking for a much lighter space that would also have more of a social focus. Not blessed by natural light, the designer recommended LED ceiling, cabinet and plinth lighting, this was installed on different circuits so the colour and intensity of light could be tailored to suit. Opting for ivory painted Milton painted furniture enhanced the sense of space.
A redesigned layout improved the amount and accessibility of storage, thanks to clever pullouts and customized cabinets. Although the worksurface area was not increased substantially it was redistributed to the areas around the sink and hob where it was most needed and useful. The breakfast bar accommodates seating for five and has created a real family and social hub in the kitchen.
