This kitchen is set in a family home and the clients wanted to knock through their living and dining room to create and open-plan space. Whilst they were keen to retain a classic ambience, the kitchen is very much designed for modern living. They opted for light painted Milton in-frame cabinetry with lightly-toned worktops to keep the look simple and elegant. Plenty of hidden storage was crucial to the brief and there are two larder units incorporated as well as additional storage cleverly located in the chimney, including pull outs, making it easier to reach cooking ingredients and spices.
An island was essential to the new layout and the designer recommended using a complementary colour for the furniture. The mellow sage complements the scheme and adds a subtle contrast to the alabaster cabinetry. The clients wanted the island to look warm and inviting and the rustic oak worksurfaces achieve this, whilst being the perfect surface for the children to sit at when doing their homework.
