The clients moved into their new home and initially were quite pleased with the existing kitchen, but soon realised that it just didn’t work for them as a family living area. They needed a more flexible living space, somewhere they could spend time together with family and friends. An island was high on their wish list, as well as plenty of storage, two ovens and an American fridge-freezer. They opted for the Milbourne Shaker range in an alabaster finish, with the island painted in a complementary linen. They chose a chunky bar handle and a simple cornice for a more modern interpretation.
The designer had to work around a supporting pillar and cleverly incorporated it into the design of the island, with seating to make this social hub of the space. The fridge freezer was planned in with cabinets built around it to maximise storage. Finishing touches include the curved cabinet on the end of the main run of units plus the pop-up sockets in the island.
