Set in a beautiful Edwardian property, the clients wanted to enlarge their kitchen to create a better flow, making it more accessible through the kitchen, dining area and utility room. Home to a young professional couple with young children, the design required a sociable focus, including a seating area for the children with a TV nearby. The Milbourne Shaker range was chosen very early in the process as it perfectly suits the simplicity and timeless look they had in mind. They chose the Farrow & Ball olive green colour for its relaxing feel and this teams beautifully with the river white granite worktops. A benched seating area was created with internal storage, all in keeping with the kitchen cabinets.
The clients were keen to have a more open feel to their new kitchen, centred around the new large Aga cooker, It was also imperative to create more work surface space and a peninsula unit to break the seated dining area away from the kitchen. A large doorway was formed for access to the new utility room. The higher ceiling around the mantle make the room airier, with the Velux window bringing in more natural light to give a sense of space within the centre of the kitchen.
