The brief was to create a large spacious, light and airy kitchen with room for entertaining, coupled with all the essential space needed for cooking, refrigeration and storage. The clients, a retired business couple, wanted a low maintenance kitchen that enabled them to prep, cook and clean with ease as well as enjoy relaxing in the space with both friends and family. The mix of painted timber doors and quartz worktop was the ideal combination to achieve exactly this.
The extraction of air in large open kitchens can sometimes create an issue, emphasised in this instance in that directly above the range cooker was a vaulted ceiling. In order to overcome this the design includes a downdraft extractor placed directly behind the range cooker, thus venting the air out of the window wall.
