The brief

The high vaulted ceilings and galleried landing overlooking this open-plan kitchen meant the design had to look equally impressive from above as from the floor. The client wanted a sleek, modern kitchen but it needed to be highly practical and suit their family and entertaining needs. The perfect layout was an L-shape with appliance bank and plenty of space for the table that seats up to 14. Fenton Graphite and Fresco White was a great combination for the furniture.

Designer's tips

In an open-plan layout choose a colour to link the different zones together for a cohesive feel to the design. In this example a piece of artwork was the inspiration for the colour palette, from which the vivid denim blue was echoed in the splashback and also the cushions, injecting a dash of colour to lift the monochrome scheme.
