With a brief to incorporate appliances including an American fridge freezer, combination microwave, range cooker dishwasher and washing machine as well as a hot water tap and hide a wall mounted combination boiler, the gauntlet was thrown down. Fortunately the designer rose to the challenge, not easy given a room measuring 3.4msq, a window, door and bi-folding doors! The clients are overjoyed with the design, which is a classic mix of solid oak doors and star galaxy granite worktops.
Improved storage was key, so taking advantage of the tall Croft Washed Oak doors the design maximises wall cabinetry storage. Additionally, a deep top box set over the American fridge freezer creates useful space. All the appliances are housed with even room to squeeze in a pull-out bin. The natural materials used for worktops, cabinetry and the limestone flooring are sympathetic to the property which is believed to be around 400 years old and once part of a public house.
