The Brief

Modern country sums up this working farmhouse kitchen that teams natural materials with a practical layout.   A contemporary steel chimney, neutral travertine mosaic tiles and feature-glazed cabinets have opened up the room to create a light and airy ambience.  The high-backed wicker chairs, wood-burning stove and sofa blend together to make this a true hub of the home in every way; it’s warm, welcoming and where everyone enjoys time together.

Designer's Tips

This L-shape design creates a functional living kitchen that’s packed with a host of features to make the cooking experience more ergonomic and enjoyable.  Eye-level microwave and double ovens plus a base unit pull-out are practical and comfortable to work with.  The rustic wicker baskets create an accent area and are perfect for storing vegetables.  Lovely finishing touches include the tactile pewter handles and the curved cabinet that softly rounds off the long run of solid oak cabinetry.
