The brief

With a busy family lifestyle the clients were keen to have a sociable space where they could all spend time together, even if they were doing different activities. Rota recommended and subsequently fully project-managed the opening up of 2 rooms to create an open plan kitchen-living space.   The result is an elegant interior, which not only suits the architecture of the property but includes modern touches such as the stylish bar stools to keep the look light and fresh.

Designer's tips

When mixing the old with the new it’s important to be sympathetic to the period of the property, making the most of any original features.  In a home such as this, with beautiful sash windows and high ceilings, there is a very refined feel, which the designer has cleverly echoed with elements of the kitchen design. For example the delicate waterfall edge profiles on the granite and oak worksurfaces create a subtle link to the decorative profile of the coving.
