This project involved doubling the ground floor of a bungalow and extending the once very small and dark kitchen. The clients’ vision for the kitchen was a bright and airy family room, with a central island for entertaining friends. Their favourite colour is purple so this is used as an accent colour on the glass splash-back and bar stools which creates a dramatic contrast with the painted cabinetry.
To add warmth to the scheme natural oak was mixed with the granite worktop on the island. This was enhanced further with the wine rack above the fridge and the plate rack over the sink. Brick effect white wall tiles retain a classic feel to the kitchen. It was important that the room had defined zones for cooking, washing and food prep/socialising, so the separate hob and sink area and island is the perfect solution.
