The Brief

Friends and family are at the heart of this new kitchen living extension so the design had to be multifunctional, allowing the hosts to socialise whilst preparing meals.  The central island is a great congregation point where everyone gathers.  The layout works well whether it’s family or a larger party of friends. The customers wanted a mix of wood and colours to give the kitchen an individual look, the painted charcoal and alabaster marry beautifully with the 2 worktop finishes.

Designer's Tips

In a project involving building work it’s critical to work closely with everyone involved in the project.  It’s especially important that the kitchen is considered at the early stages to avoid any design complications. In this design a change to the plan by the builder meant the kitchen designer had to be very creative, re-configuring the design around the hob.  The kitchen  has some interesting features, with curves playing an important role to the flow of the design.
