The clients had their heart set on a cloverleaf shaped island which features a mix of granite and wood worksurfaces to contrast with the alabaster painted Shaker furniture. The finished design has the look of a bespoke kitchen and there’s a host of clever storage solutions cleverly hidden behind the painted doors to ensure a streamlined and uncluttered aesthetic.
A large island can pose quite a design challenge as it’s important that it does not overpower the room. In this interior the gentle curves of the cloverleaf shape soften the lines, allowing plenty of space to safely manoeuvre around the island. A lovely design touch is the contrasting radius ends and plinths in a natural oak finish to co-ordinate with the timber worksurface.
