Open plan kitchens create an informal social area popular with families and people who regularly entertain guests in the kitchen.

Whilst this merging of household areas is enjoyed by many, open plan designs often benefit from creating visual distinctions between each area. This can be done by using different colours, style or flooring in different areas

It’s also important to remember storage – open plan kitchens have less wall space and so less room available for cabinets. This is one reason why so many open plan designs feature kitchen islands.
